Play Biblical Detective

Your homework is to secretly observe a conversation that you suspect will escalate into a full-blown argument. This can be done by watching a television drama, talk show, attending a family reunion, or witnessing an abrupt break-up. Pay attention to the social animation of those yells and labeling. And analyze the exact social moment of the change. What was it that set it off: constant interruptions, a harsh word, seniority issues, bias (ect)? Afterwards find a scripture in Proverbs that may have been useful to the performers of this heated exchange.

Note
: Keep it Christian. Please do not incite an actual argument for this assignment. And remember, this is Biblical Algebra; show your work.

We’re "After Laughter”

Perhaps the easiest beginning of any monthly assignment, your homework is to catch laughter itself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Notice the spiritual effects it can have on the psychology of a person. And report on the following:

-What was the social atmosphere around it?
-Did this laughter demonstrate a need to escape in any way?
-Did it cause any intellectual traffic to logical reasoning?
-Who or what was the laughter campaigning for?
-Where was this laughter aiming at spiritually?

Hear that laughter along with the following scriptures:

  •  "Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better (Ecclesiastes 7:3).”
  • "For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laugher of the fool: this also is vanity (Ecclesiastic 7:6).”
  • "Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness (James 4:9).”

1 In…1 Out..for 1 Week!

Your homework assignment for this month is to mentally adopt one person outside your family, who you deal with routinely (co-worker, college partner) for one week. Pretend they are a blood relative and a beneficiary of every family traidition:

-Systematic forvigness
-Patient interest free loans
-Rhetorical concern for one’s happiness
-Social seniority
-Special resource contacts & referrals

Conversely, choose one family member to denounce for a week(only from the benefits above). Take notes on the reactions toward you and write them below. During this week bear in mind the irony that eventually… we are ALL family (Revelation 5:9).
